The hotel has spacious parking areas that can accommodate 200 vehicles.
Hotel Supreme is a top choice for conferences, conventions, seminars, meetings, debuts and themed parties. It is also a preferred wedding hub of the city with over a hundred receptions held at the hotel each year.
Hotel Supreme has its humble beginnings. Peter, the proprietor and general manager of Hotel Supreme was born and educated in Baguio City. At the early age of nineteen, he became an orphan and had to earn a living and take care of his siblings. He was employed in different industries in Manila but earned very minimal. With the little savings he had, he ventured into taxi cab business and this opened a door for him to endeavor into the hotel business. He was able to manage three hotels in a span of eight years with different building owners. Peter knew that having his own hotel building and managing his own business makes more sense in the long term. Ultimately, he wanted to become his own boss and because of his untiring efforts and passion for business, he made his dreams into a reality. Peter’s wife, Evelyn, or “Ivy” as her friends call her came from a simple farming family in La Trinidad, Benguet. She spent her life living in a full-sized house where her father’s siblings and their children also resided. Preparing meals was the language of love for the family.
Food was prepared in large portions and eating with relatives was shared in the table in batches. This atmosphere sharpened her skills and talent in cooking. After graduating from college, she worked with a bank. Peter pursued her fervently and they married in April 1980. Being a loving wife, she eventually resigned from her work and focused full-time in the business.
Peter was able to purchase a lot located close to the family’s rented apartment. Being a hotelier for quite some time, he ambitioned to have a hotel of his own. Thus, they first sought financial assistance through a reputable bank and were eventually granted a term loan. From then on both Peter and Ivy dedicated much hard work, perseverance and prayers in constructing the Hotel Supreme Phase I Building. The building was completed in May 1989. This was the first-ever building property owned by the spouses Peter and Ivy. The Phase I building had twenty-nine rooms which included four (4) apartels equipped with kitchen facilities. It also housed the Ivy’s Grill and Restaurant.
The couple assigned themselves their particular tasks. Peter takes the lead in directing and coordinating the overall operations. Ivy will impart her culinary skills and will be in charge of running the kitchen and restaurant. Both worked day and night just to make sure everything was moving along as planned.
In 1990, a year after the inauguration and operation of the Phase I Building, a devastating earthquake struck the northern part of Luzon and isolated the whole city of Baguio. It was indeed the hand of God that protected the building structure and spared it from any major damages. Although the tourism business in Baguio was severely damaged by such a catastrophe, Hotel Supreme was able to recover from the disaster and resumed operations, making it the only three (3) star hotel operational during that time.
Again, with the couple’s undying efforts and deep faith, Peter anticipated the need for an expansion so as to improve the tourism industry through creating more rooms, more spacious outlets and function rooms. A swimming pool was integrated to enhance the hotel facilities and amenities. Just after five (5) years from opening the first building, Peter and Ivy Ng, on April 2, 1995 opened the doors of Hotel Supreme Phase II Building. The new facility had an additional thirty-six (36) rooms making the room total to sixty-five (65), a meeting room called the Sapphire Executive Room, and the multi-purpose Margarita Hall that was designed for seminars, conventions, conferences, weddings and any other big group gatherings. It could accommodate 200-300 guests.
The overall outcome of the business for the next years were very promising and on May 30, 1999, three (3) additional medium-sized function rooms were added. This is now called the Phase III Building. The Ruby Room, Emerald Room and Topaz Room are designed for executive meetings and other small group gatherings.
Came in the middle of 2003, Peter and Ivy ventured into their largest expansion endeavor. The Hotel Supreme Convention Plaza building began construction. It was the biggest hotel building landmark during that time. It was located right across the Phase I Building and along the busy business district leading to La Trinidad Valley. It is surrounded by neighboring schools, colleges, hospitals, churches, tourist spots and different business establishments. It was a nine (9) storey first class hotel building with 13,000 square meters of floor area, two (2) scenic elevators that overlooks the mountains and foothills of Baguio. It is designed with first class amenities and offer one hundred twenty (120) furnished guestrooms and suites equipped with air condition units and bath tub. Four (4) additional function rooms named Diamond Grand Ballroom, Opal Function Room, Garnet Room and Jasper Room that can seat guests ranging from 50-1,200 persons and outfitted with complete audio and visual equipment.
Food outlets such as the Gloria Jeans Coffees and the Future Diner restaurant allowed guests to enjoy dining. Today, the business started by spouses Peter and Ivy Ng has progressed into a family business. Their parents have trained their children to be good team members. The siblings now take key management roles and carry out the day-to-day operations of the business. Of course, both Peter and Ivy are still actively involved in the business and watch over the administration of their children to ensure proper succession and continuity of their legacy. Both Peter and Ivy are recipients of the Outstanding Citizens of Baguio award for their contributions and achievements in the field of business. Peter and Ivy were awarded in 1997 and 2006, respectively. Hotel Supreme was cited for four (4) consecutive years as the Hotel of the Year of Baguio City (1997-2000). The hotel was also presented a “Builders of Baguio” award for its contribution to the city’s economy and employment during the centennial celebration of Baguio City. Moreover, the Ng family is very active in different socio-civic community projects and events.
